This novella is very moving and emotional. The story explores drug abuse and addiction. Blake is a recovering addict and an up and coming rock star. HIs best friend Jamie has recently committed suicide by drug abuse. He is having a hard time trying to figure all of this out. He knows that Jamie was involved with a girl but doesn't really know who she is. Sylvie is a beautiful girl that uses her body and sex to get just what she wants in life. She works for the record company finding new and awesome talent. She was the girl that Jamie was so enthralled with. This story is told through both of their points of view. It is short and draws the reader in quickly. The plot examines how both of these characters are coming to terms with the loss of Jamie and what is next for all of them. I look forward to the next piece of this story. I recommend that this be read by mature readers with the understanding that it is not truly a happy story but definitely a necessary story.Product details

NJ Frost is brilliant with the pen! Her writing is truly spectacular and I couldn't get enough of this story and these characters. It is so much more than a Rock Star Romance, although that is a huge perk! Did I mention it takes place in England, people?!! Another bonus. I didn't want the story to end and it left me wanting more immediately. I can't believe we have to wait till the summer, it can't come soon enough! The teaser at the end of the novella is absolutely stunning and will leave you breathless. 5 STARS!!!! NJ Frost is quite a talent.
WOW! Amazing! This is a prequel to the first book and I love it. The Boy in the Band is totally going to be my favourite rock star series. NJ wrote a very emotional, dark and passionate book. I love Blake, Sylvie and Chris Kavanagh. I want to read the next book now.
4.5 Raw Rocking Stars
An intriguing start to what I think will be one hec of a rock series. I love a series about delicious rock band bad boys and something tells me this is going to knock me off the stage. I'm absolutely keeping my eye open for the day The Boy in the Band is released!
I know that not every book is for every body and I just could not get into nor did I like the this story. I'm really sorry. I could barley finish it. It just felt like Kurt Cobain and unoriginal. I know it was a novella for what is to come but this girl will pass.
I loved everything about this book and am eagerly awaiting the next. This was the best read I've come across in a very long time. The straightforward candor of the narrative grabbed me and pulled me right into a world of fame and privilege and the wrecked lives of those living it.
WOW!!! What a novella! Writing is awesome and hooked me from the very first page. A unique plot with very interesting characters. It is a story surrounded by sex, drugs, alcohol and rock and roll! Blake and Sylvie are two tortured souls with their own path to self destruction. Sylvie bothers me a lot. I get it that she is extraordinarily beautiful and placed up high on a pedestal by Jamie (dead rock star). She has the love and adoration of a rock star and yet continues to sleep with other men. Why so promiscuous? She obviously cares for Jamie but not enough for a commitment. Ugh...the angst! I honestly cannot wait for the sequel. I need to know why these characters are so f***** up.
I wasn't really sure what to think about Death of a Rock star. It started slow for me and kept going from POV to POV and I almost gave up. But then I continued and now I will say I really enjoyed it !
This was not the typical rock and roller story. It almost reads like a journal of accounts of how two people were affected by in fact the death of a Rock Star. Jamie is the rock star and Sylvie is his on again off again girlfriend. He basically is at his wits end when it comes to her because he loves her but just a bit too much for her liking. She is the ultimate rock and roll girlfriend and has the reputation to prove it.
But this is also the story of Blake, best friend of Jamie and possibly another victim of the web that Sylvie creates with her sexy wiles.
It is a very interesting book, with both Sylvie and Blake recounting said death and coming to grips that their paths have crossed and probably will again. And maybe Jamie will have something to do with that even in death.
I look forward to the next book in this series and even though this doesn't end in a big cliffhanger, I must say I am anxious for more. It is unique and well written.
A solid 4 stars. I recommend you give it a try.
